WIDE SPREAD PANIC recently ended their spring tour in dallas texas. the weather was wonderful, the sun set in style and there was a chill in the air after panic ended their third set! beginning with irleene and ending the first set with sympathy for the devil i kinda figured we were in for a treat. every member of the band was absolutely on fire. papas home>little lilly>fishwater was outrageous. all time low began the second set with a blast, that began with some sweetness provided my sonny who by the way threw it down like none other during his drum solo which was enfermo. pigeons sums up my feelings pretty well and big schooly tossed down a flat foot to remember for sure. living in breck i am down with surprise valley, i love kissing the air every chance i get. in fact i love imagining skiing while dancing to the song. i love the panic because i feel free while dancing to their carefully constructed jams. i feel the same when i ski and i love to send it through some fresh powder. i am talking about the gnar gnar, like when panic is playing i feel like i am in gnarnia. ........fantasy land.......thanks peace jfh

The final day for SunFest 2008 had 15 bands on the 3 stages, perfect weather, drinks, laughter, and fireworks set to rock music as the finale. Highlight bands included: Stephen Marley, John Legend, Mindi Abair (she's an awesome sax player), The Rippingtons, Matisyaho (Reggae/Hip Hop), and Morris Day and the Time (they had a funk-filled show). The fireworks finished the night. It's been a sweet 5 days and loads of fun! Until next year...

Saturday there were 15 bands playing on the three stages throughout the day and evening - great weather and music. About the music, the one I found most amazing was Classic Albums Live; more on them in a bit. The Black Crowes were the final act of the night and kicked out a great show - I so dig doing a boogie to Remedy Some of the other highlights: The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Jeff Tuohy and the Bush League Band, and the Little River Band. Now, the band with the longest set during SunFest (3 hours 45 minutes) was probably the hottest act, Classic Albums Live takes super musicians, dresses them in black like concert musicians, and they crank out note-for-note entire rock albums! At SunFest they did The Doors, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, and Led Zeppelin II. The technical and crowd appeal aspects were fantastic. Oh yeah, and we all enjoyed lots of sun, the art exhibits, the drinks, laughs, and chillaxting with friends!

Friday night had 10 bands, a mix of Reggae, rock, blues, pop, jazz, Hip Hop. Three tops for me: Hot Tuna, Little Feet, and Fergie (of the Black Eyed Peas). A breezy night on the waterfront under the palm trees, drinks in hand, hanging out with friends, and twirling to the music all around

Last night 15 bands played at SunFest (a mix of indie, rock, ska, electric, and hip hop). Tops for me: Good Charlotte and Finger Eleven. Finger Eleven did a great extended Paralyzer rolling into Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, Trampled Underfoot by Led Zepplin and Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd in the middle of the song before pulling back into Paralyzer. That, and the drinks were flowing, the breeze blowing off the water, friends laughing and dancing, and then a bunch of us ended up hanging out for drinks on the boat one of them had docked at the event until the wee hours of the morning. Ahh, another day in paradise

Yeah, SunFest kicked off yesterday, 30 April 2008. Of the 60 acts to play over the five days, five played on the two stages. The highlights for me were: a) George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic was a huge party! There were so many musicians and entourage on stage And, with GC it is always a wild set. b) Sheryl Crow did a tight set and had a "special guest" come out and play with her...Eric Clapton! He was not on the billing and they rocked on a cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground. c) Being back "home" in south Florida. It was great getting to Palm Beach County and warm sunshine, the beach, SunFest (which is held on the waterfront!), drinks and twirling to the music with friends!

By: Robyn Rubinstein (not me!)
I'm just not sure if there is "that one and only someone" out there for everyone. Even if there is, with the current world population of just over 6.5 billion, the odds of my perfect someone and me crossing paths are, at best, deeply stacked against me. No matter how often I try to beat the living crap out of my helpless romantic side, that tenacious little bitch is tougher than she looks. Together, we've come to a compromise. If a man ever looks me dead in the eye and says, sober with the utmost sincerity, "If you suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions" AND I believe him, then that could maybe be my someone. George Clinton hit on something genius when he coined that phrase. Funk music began as an illicit analogy and soundtrack for sex and therein lies its power. Real funk grabs your visceral inner hedonist and brings her out to dance. In my opinion, the litmus test for legitimate funk is its ability to open your soul to full capacity and make you warm below the belt. In the sage words of Alice Russell and TM Juke, "Maybe I'm asking too much, but the best is all I do." What follows is an introductory look at a few funk and soul bands that you may not be familiar with, but the best is all they do. It's music that uses you up, and all you want to do afterwards is smoke a cigarette and pass out.

Subject: The end of Spring brings us Home. Thanks everyone.
Visible to: Public - Everyone

Well, we had a fun Spring run and hope that all of you, who were able to attend a WILX show Jan-April, had a great Spring also .

We were able to get into some new venues and towns, and it was great to see some familiar faces, as well as make some new friends, . Thank you guys and gals, from Raleigh to Baton Rouge, for being awesome and supporting live music. If you liked what you heard, we will be posting some of our Spring recordings on various music sites.  If you don't see us on a site, let us know....................(cont)

The time to write a new story in the books for WILX has come again.  We will begin work on the new album tomorrow, 4/29/08.  We'll be running some Live tracking at a venue in Athens to breakdown some Tour ideas and work-shop some of the latest WILX tunes.  We showcased three songs over the last month and can't wait to get them on disc, or should I say DOWNLOAD.

But the real news is that we have TWO WEEKS until we start working with John Keane.  We are really looking forward to this project and we'll be working hard for the next two months. We have some shows but, for the most part, we'll be takin' 'er easy as far as traveling is concerned.

Be on the look out, cause we might put some samples of the new Album on our Moboogie.

Thanks for all the support,

WILX  ___         Grant, Hayden, Taylor & Wilkes
